It’s been a whirlwind month for Chicago-based content marketing strategist Matt Levy. On top of creating a flagship video for one of his clients that’s unlike anything Brafton’s ever created, he recently gave a live present on video marketing at ClickZLive in San Francisco. Finishing up a strong month, he’s celebrating his one year Braftiversary!
In a short amount of time, Matt’s built a reputation for producing some of the most sophisticated video strategies at Brafton. We’re happy to say that – in a good way – it feels like Matt has been our teammate for far longer than a year.
Matt’s marketing sweet spot
Matt joined Brafton with a background in ecommerce, and his main requirement when looking for a new position was to work for a company that helped other online businesses.
“To be successful as a strategist, you have to be ready for anything- very capable of thinking on your feet,” he said. “You truly have no idea about some of the things that will come your way in a given day, and that suits me very well.”
Video marketing at Brafton – and on the web in general – is Matt’s favorite content format.
“Video resonates with me,” he said. “It’s so visual, obviously, and easy for a client to digest. And we can create anything they can imagine in impressive timeframes. Video blogs are also a valuable resource because they can pack a lot of punch for minimal spend.”
Learn more about Matt in our Brafton Q&A:
Q: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A neurosurgeon.
Q: What is your most treasured possession?
Wow, great question. It would have to be one of my many pieces of autographed Chicago Cubs memorabilia or the first stuffed animal that was ever given to me, Cuddles, who is a dog.
Q: Which day of the work week are you the most productive?
I’d say they’re all about equal as no two days are alike and one Wednesday will never be like the following Wednesday. But, I generally come to work pretty recharged and ready to go on Mondays, so I’ll say Monday.
What do you value most in a job? What’s your favorite aspect of Brafton?
I value a challenging role, where I can both apply my expertise while gaining new tools along the way. My favorite aspect of my job is absolutely the people at Brafton.
Q: When you’re creating analytics reports for clients – what do you think are the most important metrics to provide context to their strategy?
I think one of the most important metrics to react to is bounce rate. If users are landing on a page thinking that they found what they’re looking for, but didn’t – there’s an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, and can often pay dividends when it is. Addressing bounce rate drives qualified users towards conversions.
Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My wife – who is way too good for me – is due with our firstborn in a month! We have a french bulldog. We are a growing family. I am quite proud of that achievement.
Q: Have any “hidden talents”?
I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old. I’m pretty good!
Q: If Brafton were a TV show, which character – from any sitcom, drama or reality show (of any time period) – would represent you?
Another great question! Can I choose a hybrid of Phil Dunphy and Jay Pritchett from Modern Family? I’m a total dork like Phil and will do anything to make people laugh, especially my wife, but I am also very much like Jay, although I’m not sure how to describe why! Just trust me.
